Primary A&E Interest Groups

Coffee Programs

a) Schedule speakers & programs for community coffee gatherings.

b) Seek funding to offer honorariums to speakers/performers.

c) Balance program offerings to include current events, entertainment, historical and general interest items. 

Garden

a) Oversee allocation of individual garden plots annually.

b) Identify, procure, plant, and maintain community garden plots.

Creative Photography

a) Engage our members in challenging, recreational, and creative photographic experiences, while learning through curiosity and constructive exchange, leading to a sense of accomplishment and social enjoyment.

b) A variety of topics are addressed each month:

Flower photography, black and white images, special event photos, macro and abstracts, cellphone photography, videography, archiving and indexing images, wildlife photography, design and composition, etc.

At each meeting, members share their recent images, exploring artistic and documentary practices.  Share photos with the Applewood Shoreview community.

Crafts

a) Identify and organize activities that encourage participation in skills, crafts, and hobbies.

b) Designate storage areas for both individual and shared supplies and projects.

c) Assign a table to be permanently used for jigsaw puzzles.

d) Locate storage space outside of the craft room for building blueprints.

e) Arrange opportunities for the talents of members to be displayed and/or sold.

Health & Wellness

a) Identify and schedule physical exercise activities on a regular schedule.

b) Work with the Coffee Program group to offer informational programs to encourage healthy lifestyles.

c) Work with Fitness Room users to ensure that we have appropriate equipment and the machines are operating properly. 

 

Kitchen

A) Identify food-related equipment and supplies for use in the Great Room and Club Room.

B. Suggest needs and recommendations for new and/or replacement equipment and supplies

C. Periodically inventory permanent supplies (pots, pans, serving vessels, dishes, glassware, utensils, etc.)

D. Monitor and support effective use of the dishwashers to ensure cleanliness of dishes and utensils.

Library

A. Organize and maintain books, puzzles and CDs in an appropriate manner.

B.  Maintain collections by accepting new items and disposing of obsolete materials.

C. Seek funding as needed for books.  

Music

a) Encourage and work with the Special Events group, schedule musical performances by members.

b) Working with the Coffee Program and Special Events groups, schedule musical performances using outside performers.

c) Establish and maintain community-based vocal group and seek funding for musical material.

d) Assure maintenance and care of the community electronic piano.

e) Provide an environment that would be inviting and enjoyable for singers.

f) Choose music appropriate in difficulty and good for seasonal and special day celebrations.

g) Invite and encourage the use of the community electronic piano.

Social Events & Planning

a) Plan, organize and manage community events, including, but not limited to, meals, holiday celebrations, and other festive gatherings of community-wide interest.

b) Identify and seek approval for funding needed for materials and supplies to stage special events.

Woodshop

a) Acquire, maintain, and replace tools and equipment used for woodworking and related interests.

b) Ensure safe usage of equipment by establishing rules for usage and training of shop users.

c) When reasonably possible, assist members with projects and repairs.
